How can I change the font and size of DVD subtitle? It's some kind of Arial bold with really rough edges. In one word: ugly. And huge. While playing a dvd movie, it seems that going to Options->Preferences->Subtitles-> Font and size and changing the values, doesn't affect the DVD subtitle. On a regular avi, mkv, wmv,etc it works fine, but not for dvd's. And, in some movies the subtitle is red blue, sometimes even a pale yellow. Is there a way to change it? If not, please consider this an update suggestion. I hate dvd subtitles. |

No, there is no way, as DVD subtitles are in fact a series of images that overlay on the picture. Can't be modified. All the others are text based subtitles and therefore can be changed like in any document...font, size....

In theory what you probably could do (it is supported by BS.Player!) is not play the DVD as DVD but as consecutive VOB-files (in playlist as indicated in this post) and use external srt-subtitles. Unfortunately, in practice, I'm pretty sure you will not be able to find suitable subtitles anywhere for such files. This simply as these text-based subtitles are not commonly made in a format/length which matches the VOB-files.

Or, one other thing you can also do (i've done it myself several times) is to disable subtitles from DVD and load external title like SRT, SUB, TXT,... like when playing divx movie. Just find subtitle with correct fps (to match your DVD movie) and it should do the trick. Note: play DVD movie as DVD (i know, sounds weird :) ), just wanted to point on diference from previous post. All the best! |

Your solution indeed is a working solution for users of Pro-version! (Only Pro-version supports playing a DVD movie as DVD). Many thanks, licanin, for your most welcome and helpful addition! The subtitle needs to be loaded manually of course (rightclick > 'Load subtitles'). But before that the user first needs to 'manually' find a suitable subtitle-file. E.g. using Web Search :: BSPlayer-Search.com (or through one of the many subtitle-sites as mentioned in my Help2Help-post).

It is possible that my explanation was a little bit poor, but I thought that these things, like loading external subtitle and DVD support, are obvious. My bad. If it is necessary, I can provide a much more detailed info. Anyway, I'm glad to be useful, and that my experience also served for others. Keep up with good work! |
