this doesn't work cause you can put only executable files in autorun. File association doesn't work. That's why a reliable autorun solution must use an executable file. I think you should try using HWautorun

and for your old CDs, keep an old version installed. Backward compatibility doesn't have to be maintained always, that's why major version change are made for.
