Don't use codec packs. They are well intended but do more bad things than good things. Unknown file format appears when you don't have the codec installed or you have an incomplete file. Bsplayer can handle a light-damaged incomplete file but only that. Try open the file with mplayer2. If you get the message unknown file format..... attempting codec download.... then you lack the codec. First of all uninstalll codec pack. Go to
www.divx.com/divx/ and download latest codec. Same for xvid:
www.xvid.net the version 0.91. In bsplayer options enable use divx4 to decode div3, mp43......files.
