Default mkv 720p choppy/out of sync on android

Hi!

I use BSplayer on my galaxy tab 10.1 to play video over my lan from an smb share. All the other videos I've played work fine, except this one. It's a 720p video in an mkv container, not sure on the codec. Here is some information from vlc on windows regarding the codec:

Video Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (avc1)
Resolution: 1280x720
Frame rate: 23.976215

Audio Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3) (a52)
Channels: 3F2R/LFE
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 384 kb/s

When I play this in windows in vlc (also on wifi), the video plays as I would expect. When I play it in BSPlayer on android 4.0.4 on my samsung galaxy tab 10.1 (with BSPlayer ARMv7+VFP support installed), with bsplayer hardware decoding, the audio sounds fine but the video lags behind and is also choppy. I tried checking the option for dropping frames to keep up, but that made it worse. I also tried increasing the lan streaming buffer from medium to large but that didn't help either. I also tried turning on high performance wifi mode but that didn't help. Now when I copy the video to local storage, the video plays back normally. So it's something about streaming this video over the lan. Btw, it's on 802.11g with WPA2. Can you give me any tips on hwo to troubleshoot this? I didn't see an option in bsplayer to turn on logging or open a log. Thanks!
