The whole procedure seems complicated: you have to install some filter which may or may not work and then you need to toggle all sorts of unrelated options in the GUI. I'd be surprised if more than a handful of users figure this out. What's against adding an anamorphic option? It's easy to do. The functionality for changing aspect ratios is already present.
