I don't think is realy needed to go so technical. Everybody have heard about codec, codecs, codecpacks and so on. On the main download pages you'll find codec writen all over the place. So, let's not confuse peoples. I started this topic so everybody can understand what is needed for bsplayer to run properly.
Second, you are also right about ffdshow, I used it once. But only once. And I recommend it for slow machines. So, if you realy want that to be writen here, here it goes:
