Subtitles editing

Is there a way to make changes to subtitle fonts (such as a different colour) but ONLY to one part of the text and not the whole?
If it's not possible from bsplayer itself, is there a way to do it perhaps with some other program whose only purpose would be to show fonts?
Does the file really have to be a pure txt file or is there a way to bypass that?

As a DVobSub user, I'm not very aware.
But several users did ask this feature in the request forum, and BST added some improvement recently to support this, but it seems to be not yet fully implemented and some bugs remain.
It depends on the format used. Some of them have a syntax, that looks like BBcode and I guess that some GUI are available to bring some help to this tedious job.
