Error msg when opening/closing a file in BS player 2.56

Get the following error msg ( several times ) when i open/close a video file

"Can't save configuration file!
Please reinstall with default settings or choose folder with write permission"

I already did a reinstall; lifted the 'read-only' from both maps where the player and the file i try to play is located ... no result.

Any help/suggestions?

Thx in advance

Windows seven ? UAC enabled ?

Brechtjeuh 31st July 2010 08:44 AM

Windows Vista SP2 ... everything is standard, i have only installed what was neccesary(ffdshow audio/video).

What's with the UAC enabled thingie? I am Administrator on my laptop so i should run it as an administrator no?

UAC is user account control and limits the rights to write files on your computer.

i have just started experiencing the same problem when upgrading to the current version and i'm sorry but this is a pretty much useless suggestion.

why would i possibly turn off security features of an already less-then pefrect operating systems so that one particular program would not complain about working?

is there another way of getting around the error? a button to un-click in bs player or something to not install?

thanks

Perhaps "Can't save configuration file!
Please reinstall with default settings or choose folder with write permission"

okay, tried reinstalling with minimum changes to the default setting (i.e. language and additional unwanted things and file associations), and made the installed folder and the windows user folder where the roaming stuff is writeable..

with no change.

which folder exactly should have write permission if not those two?

Can't save configuration file error

I had the same error over and over, no change reinstalling. Fixed it mysteriously by installing the beta version of 2.58 :happyroll: HTH
