Flac support

Hi, i reinstalled windows 7 64bit and suddenly BS Player isn't playing flac files.
It's weird because it's the same computer and OS as before and it was playing flac just fine before.

Maybe its something with the new version? Do i need to do something in order for BS to play flac?

Thanks

I suppose you also reinstalled BS.Player?
During BS.Player's installation, did you (when asked) allow BS.Player to also internally install its preferred codecs/filters?
(Internally meaning for use by BS.Player only and not interfering with your systems codecs/filters.)
Any codec-packs:eek: installed:frown:?

Maybe UAC prevented proper installation of BS.Player's filters/codecs?
To be sure switch off UAC and run codecmanager.exe which can be found inside BS.Player's installation folder.
Also verify if flac is selected as "Associated extension"
(under rightclick > Options > Preferences > General > Filetypes)

Do you use Free or Pro version?
Pro-version users are entitled to get direct (email) support from BS.Player-team (click here).
Anyway, I'll ask Ico-man to also have a look at this problem.

Codecs.com :: Download madFLAC 1.10 : madFLAC is a DirectShow decoder filter for FLAC files.

Does it work now ?

Glacier 10th January 2012 10:12 PM

I tried to install madFLAC 1.10, which failed:
Can not open madFLAC.zip, install failed!

I then unzipped the madFLAC.zip, which did appear, and ran install.bat:
The DirectShow filter "madFlac.ax" was registered succesfully.

It doesn't work in BS.Player yet and the madFLAC codec isn't listed in the BS.Player codec manager.
Is BS.P supposed to detect the madFLAC codec automatically or do I need to do something more? I reinstalled BS.P. Still not working.

Strange thing. Downloaded a small flac file from here:

Samples for Testing Audio Codecs

and BSPlayer plays it with no problem. In advanced filter window there is a FLAC decoder which seems to be...internal ?

I started the trial run. I'm considering switching from Spotify.

I've been trying music streaming services since YouTube Premium's introduction.

Before switching to iPhone from HTC M8 which ran FLAC files, I mostly listened to the songs in my phone's memory card, they were mostly FLAC. Then I got lazy after realizing iPhone didn't support FLAC files and started a Spotify premium membership. FLAC is a big selling point for me. I care about the quality my ears get.

I might stick with Deezer even though the answer is no, because FLAC or not, Deezer has better sound than Spotify. But I already have a heavily personalized profile on Spotify. But if the answer is yes, it'll get so much easier for me. So, I need help on the matter. Thanks in advance!
