HW Color controls (499)

I just installed build 499 and I've encountered problem with HW Color controls. Anytime I select it from the menu, dialogue pop-ups, but it sets all sliders to maximum values with no respect to previous settings.

Please download file again it's fixed now.

Mr. Tao 26th June 2003 08:12 AM

I did and now all sliders except hue are fixed, so nothing can be adjusted :?

Do they work in ffdshow ?

Edit: I mean Overlay controls in ffdshow.

JTHawK#2 26th June 2003 11:24 AM

yes ... that works ... also the overlay controls from my graphiccard's driver conrol panel

Mr. Tao 26th June 2003 12:12 PM

Overlay controls in ffdshow (build from Jan 3 2003, 19:59:12) are grayed out even while Overlay Mixer enabled. But in previous (non-corrected 499 build) HW Color Controls worked, they only didn't remember actual/previous settings and any time invoked, all sliders were all the way right.

Feñiz 27th June 2003 12:12 AM

Yeah, there is something bizarre with HW Color controls. Sometimes works, sometimes not.

I think it's a interference with hardware color controls and codec color controls....

For example, when playing an XVid movie, if I open HW Controls, I can adjust hue, contrast, etc. But if then I open propeties por XVid filter, the bright slider is set at the left corner.

And another thing: If you hide BSPlayer interface (H Key), and then you open HW Controls, the panel for adjusting controls opens, but you can't see it.

This is strange ffdshow actually uses my interface for color controls (you don't need to enable Overlay Mixer in ffdshow). Try latest build under nightly builds.

Continues no working, seems that all Overlay values from my control panel videocard are reset to cero when i open a video (at least on my case), and ive to modify them via control panel, options from bsplayer about HW Overlay havent any effect.

Im runing Win2k3 with an ATI 9000 videocard and decoding video with ffdshow (with it or with another codec result is the same).

I forgot that with "Use VMR-9" option all works okay, but color is a few weird.

Thx for your effort.

PS: Discovered another thing, seems that values are reset also when close ffdshow config box.

yeah .. with build 500 it works fine here ... thx

Feñiz 28th June 2003 04:52 PM

Last nightly build works also fine for me.

I'm using a GeForce 4 MX440, and Windows XP.

LotharZ 28th June 2003 06:21 PM

Overlay colors continue been resetting with "Latest build (exe only) 200306281734", but at least OSD banner appears (but OSD colors are reset every time that change between VMR-9 mode on/off).

Mr. Tao 28th June 2003 10:28 PM

With nightly build, picture properties can be adjusted with HW Color Controls. They work in overlay mode and doesn't work with VMR-9 (whatever it is ;) ). Also when ffdshow configuration invoked, picture resets back to defaults, checking Remember settings makes no difference.

btw: I'm using GeForce2 Go if it matters.

Geforce2 GO probably don't support color controls in VMR mode.
As for reseting to defaults, this is bug in ffdshow it should read current settings (at least when Overlay controls are not enabled and you check them for the first time), but it reads it's internal saved settings.

Another "happy" ATi graphic board owner...
Color Controls will never work for us, so don't be sad man...
