Background noise and equalizer

Hello all,
Whenever I try to play AVI files (divx codec and mpeg layer-3), I can see the movie and hear the voice, but there's avery strong background noise, which makes it very difficult.

I had the same problem with MP, but I played with the equalizer and fixed it. In Bsplayer (the newest version), the equalizer doesn't work.

Please help!
