I should only recommend using ffd show decoder, over what you curently use. The bad news is, that you might not be able to remove the crashed/trashed codec you using W/O reinstalling winblows.
Might.
Hope you can.
FFD show allow you to play Xvid, DivX 3, 4 and 5 content, as WMA too. So, good codec package. Get it there:

Green lines you get often from older builds of codecs, especially from xvid ones. My advice, install divx 5 http://www.divx.com/divx/, xvid 0.92 http://www.xvid.net/ .
WMP display subtitles. it only needs a bit of help. see vobsub or divxg400.
