VIDEO SETTINGS in BSplayer 0.86

Hi there, can anybody tell me why I can't change the video settings (brightness, saturation & contrast) in BSplayer 0.86 while playing back an AVI (XVID codec). I can move the 3 sliders, but it does'nt have any effect.
