Video playing is laggy...

I dont think it is actually a "BUG".
I have an athlon XP 1800+ 512 DDR and geforce4 ti 4200
HD 7200 t/min

But when i play a movie (divx, xvid), there are couple of laggy scene : i mean video and audio jump 1/10 seconds forward.
What can change that?
- Defrag?
- Format?

THX alot

PS : i use ffdshow alpha instead of xvid/divx for decoding video
