Distortion in Waveout after playing files with AC3 audio Since installing the latest version of BSPlayer, i've had this weird issue on my system: After watching a movie with AC3 sound, all sounds that play via the Waveout driver (like Windows system sounds) become distorted, but only in the right channel!! :? BSPLayer doesn't even use the Wave device, i've set it to use Directsound. The distortion stops after a reboot. I use the WinDVD AC3 filter. I know this is probably not a bug with BSPlayer. Any ideas? Is there anything i can do to 'reset' the Wave device without rebooting? Anything i should try to re-install? Thanks. |
Have you tested with WinDvD if that AC3 filter is perhaps causing it? (I personally prefer this one). That filter is fully configurable. E.g. you can select "Direct Sound" or "Wave Out" as audio renderer (as is also shown on the page linked to here above). (Isn't there perhaps a similar possibility on WinDVD's AC3 filter?) |
Thanks for the hints Peter. I'll be reinstalling WinDVD as soon as my PC is ready for a reboot. I don't want to install that other AC3 codec (looks really cool though) i'd rather try to get things working as they are. However, i suspect the problem lies somewhere else than with WinDVD since the distortion started out of the blue. I'll edit this post later if reinstalling WinDVD fixes it, so you can rule BSPlayer out of the equation (crosses fingers!) *edit* Yup, it's gone now i think. Reinstalling WinDVD did the trick. Wonder how it got corrupted in the first place, probably something i did myself  -Sune |
