Bsplayer crashes upon playing certain files

Hello everyone,
A strange thing happend to me - While trying to watch a divx 5.1.1 encoded movie, BSplayer suddenly crashed with this message :

BSPlayer v1.00.803, Unhandled exception at EIP: 00408D48
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.
Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing.
'en' is not a valid integer value

Bytes at EIP: 33 C0 5A 59 59 64 89 10 68 65 8D 40 00 8D 45 FC E8 FB

Now this is strange because yesterday ALL of my files were working perfectly (I encoded them myself and tested them). MediaPlayer 9 is showing ALL the files correctly and I'm using all the correct codecs (installed with k-lite codec pack 2.20).

I tried uninstalling the :
codecs
bsplayer

nothing helped.

HELP ME !

Hello,

I'm using the 803 version of BSplayer, and Ido have the same problem, though the error message says :

BSPlayer v1.00.803, Unhandled exception at EIP: 019C572B
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.
Please report this info to the author with description what were you doing.
Access violation at address 019C572B in module 'ffdshow.ax'. Write of address 000000CD

And it's only been that way for 2 or 3 days (it always worked perfectly before then, with the very same version). . In that lap of time I haven't changed, installed or uninstalled any codec or video player, or video files whatsoever.
It seems to affect only some avi files. If I choose "continue" on the error message, the file plays alright.
That's the first bug I ever had with BSplayer.

Perhaps have a look at this thread.

The ffdshow is reactivated, everything seems to be back to normal. Thanx ! :D

You're quite welcome and I'm glad your problem is over now, but to be frank: it's in fact adicoto who deserves this Thanx of course.

Still not working...

BSpeter,
I tried to install a newer version of ffdshow, but it still crashes when I'm trying to play certain files.
If you look at my error you'll see it's similar to kecandra's but I don't have a "ffdshow" error, mine says "en is not a valid interger value".

Problem solved...

And the problem wasn't with BSplayer, just with the subtitles I ripped to be played with the movie.
I fixed them, and now everything worked...

Thanks for all of your help

Could you find something common to the files that cause the crash ? Like, all of them have 48000 Hz sound or AC3 sound, or the movie window size can't be divided by 4 ?

[Ocp!] 24th January 2004 12:30 PM

Haven't really thought about it thorugh

To my thoughts, since the subtitles were ripped in a .srt form which later I had to convert to .sub form (to make cosmetic changes) with a program that works in DOS mode (and could be not compatible with todays .sub standards), mabye that had caused the problem.

I fixed the subtitles by re-convert them to .srt files.

Since the error generated by BSplayer said "en is not a valid integer value" I belive that the conversion had created this value inside the .sub files.

So, the problem is fixed ?
If so, there are many freeware win-based programs that do conversion from one subtitle format to another. Subtitle Editor, Subadjust, SubtitleWorkshop, Srt2Sub and so on. You may try some of them and find useful. I personaly use Subadjust and never had any problem with converted files.

Accually, I'm using Subtitle Workshop, which is great - it's a subtitle joiner, splitter, editor and convertor. The DOS base program does one thing subtitle worship doesn't - it can reverse the order of number on right-to-left subtitles, and that's why I'm using it.
If you know of a better program that does the same, let me know.

But to your question (and to mine) - YES, the problem is solved[/b]

adicoto 24th January 2004 08:33 PM

Glad to see it solved. It is important to see at the end of topic if the problem is solved and what was the solution, so anybody can see how to solve it.
Second, I get your point and I never heard about such a program, probably because I didn't needed one. But if i'll run into one I'll let you know.
