Color controls disabled

I did the following:

1. Clean install of Windows 2003 Standard Edition.
2. Windows Update site with all updates including DirectX 9.0b and the latest driver for my GeForce 2 GTS.
3. Installed BSPlayer (bsplay100.805.exe)
4. Opened MyMovie.mpg
5. Went to Color controls dialog (Video > Color controls)

I found all slidebars disabled (greyed out). How to enable them?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Additional info:
I only did those 5 steps with restart computer after each install.
I did not install any other programs.
I did not change any option in either BSPlayer or video card configuration.

Additional questions:
Is it ok for those controls to be disabled?
Why could that possibly be?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thoroughly searched the forum for solutions but had no luck.

Thanks.

Controls are indeed presently not enabled.
(Player is under continous development)
However, depending on codec used for the movie you're playing, coloradjustments may be possible:

I tend to disagreed with you, BSPeter. I am running build 805 and color controls are enabled on avi and mpg 1/2 files too.

I have just installed Windows XP SP1 on my second disk partition and performed exactly the same 5 basic steps (lol), and I found out those color controls are enabled and working properly in Windows XP SP1. That's quite interesting. Maybe I can do something in WIndows 2003 to make them work like they do in Windows XP? By the way, everything works fine in Windows 2003 except for color controls in BSPlayer. Movies and games run very smoothly. I run movies in BSPlayer.

I need those controls in 2003. They are very handy. It is extremely convenient to adjust brightness, contrast, and color in one centralized place once, and then make player remember the settings so it uses them for all movies you play.

I think it's not a question of agree or disagree.
Perhaps both of us are right.
Colour controls are not enabled with me nor preferences can be set.
I can use (through Options > Filters or directly through [Start]) DivX Decoder's Properties "Brightness", "Contrast" and "Saturation" though (unless Yuv Extended mode is selected of course).
(FYI: Usually I have not selected any overlay mode under Video preferences)

My post indicates that the function is not disabled in BSplayer by default. It's not a problem of developpment. Maybe is related to video drivers or something like this. I am on XP SP1a. Nvidia 6.14.10.5303 drivers and DX 9a

igraws 9th February 2004 09:06 PM

If the problem was related to drivers only, the color controls would not work in either Windows I tried, because I use the same latest drivers in both Windows XP SP1 and Windows 2003. The weird thing is that the color controls work in XP but do not in 2003. Maybe it is possible to configure Windows 2003 for those controls to work? Something related to DirectX or advanced screen settings?

By the way, I use overlay mode 1. And from Nvidia control panel I have increased gamma for "all"
