MKV Files Cause BSPlayer To Quit I'm having a problem playing .mkv files with BSPlayer Build 809. I've got Matroska Pack Lite v1.0.2 installed, and have tried several different .mkv files. Each file only plays for a few minutes, and then the BSPlayer application closes. This does not happen with .avi, .mpg, or .ogm files. Is anybody else having this problem? Here are some system specs. If anyone needs more info, please let me know. OS: Windows 2000, Service Pack 2 Processor: Pentium IV, 2.6GB Video Card: GeForce FX 5600 Ultra System Memory: 1GB |
Did you do the mkv files yourself? Try to open them in VirtualDubMod. If there is an error in the streams it will surely tell you. Do you have other codecs/filter installed? Some more info about the mkv files: audio + video format ... |
I did not do the files myself. They are from several different sources. I've had no problems playing them in other players, or in versions of BSPlayer before Build 809, so I'm not sure the problem would be with the files. What exactly is VirtualDubMod? How is it different from VirtualDub? I can go to Add/Remove Programs to get a list of installed codecs and filters, but is there an easier way? Also, how would I get the info you requested on the .mkv files? I apologize for my ignorance, but I'm rather new at this. |
VitualDubMod is able to handle mkv files: Find it here. Other method to get data about the streams muxed to the container is to use gspot. It is also capable of showing the codecs installed on your system. Under add/remove programs you'd only see entries of codecs installed through an installer routine with deinstall option. Often filters get only copied to your system dir and then registered for use in DirectShow. |
