Sound issues when installing SP2

I installed SP2 and now the sound becomes SUPER LOUD when I search the video playing.
If I change the sound via the sound cursor then the sound becomes ok again.

So annoying I sometimes use winamp instead. :/

I have exactly the same problem. I installed Windows XP's Service Pack 2 a few weeks ago. Since then, whenever I search a video file that is currently playing, the volume immediately goes way up. It normalises itself when I adjust the volume even a little bit.

Just like the previous poster said, this is extremely annoying - to the extent I'm also considering switching players to something else that doesn't have this problem.

For additional information, my soundcard is Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live! 5.1.

just thought I'd offer info and say that I installed SP2 and have not had this problem at all (so it's not a universal sp2 problem)
using 1.0 810 and have creative Audigy 2 NX as my sound
