When playing a movie, what filter is used for audio decoding ?
If by any chance do you have an TMF filter, please uninstall it.

(With movie playing)
rightclick > Options > Filters > Advanced
Check which filters/codecs are used

it says:
-Default Direct Sound Device
-Xvid Mpeg 4 Video Decoder
-Mpeg Layer 3 Decoder
-Avi Splitter
-Source

any problems with that?

i noticed that even if its on mute and i fastforward for example the sound comes on really loud but the icon stays on mute which is really bizarre.

What soundcard (on-board codec) do you have ?
What does it happens when you swich in audio settings on BSPlayer from Default Directsound device to your soundcard ? (audio->output device swich from default to directsound device and after on your soundcard)

i have a audigy 2 card, my onboard is an msi but i dont use it. both AC3 decoder and output device is set to default, even when i switch them it still happens...help

Probably BSPlayer and your sound card (or it's drivers) have some incompatibility. Don't know how can I help any more. Last suggestion is to enable the on-board audio and try to output to this device and see if the problem is still there.
