error: directshow not installed
 

I have installed the normal BSplayer v. 1.36 build 825 5. Sept 2005. I use Win 2000 Prof SP4.
When I want to open any file (mp3, avi oder mpg) I get the error message "directshow not installed" and the file does not play. After I got this message I installed the new DirectShow filter from http://www.illiminable.com/ogg/ but the problem is still there. How can I solve it.
I had an earlier version of BSplayer, which I correctly uninstalled via the uninstall.exe

The file you downloaded is for playing OGG files.
To play movies in BSplayer you need DirectX 7 to be installed on your machine (minimum required, I suggest you to install latest DirectX 9.0c)

After you inteall DirectX you have to restart your computer, then the problem should be fixed :wink:

People have confusion about the "directshow" that it's an application which is wrong. It's an API so it's a library application in DLL which we can use to call the function. There are multiple reasons behind the direct show error like due to Corrupt download or incomplete installation of DirectShow software. or Virus infection that has corrupted DirectShow-related program files. To fix this error must 1) do a full malware scan of PC. 2) You need to update your PC device drivers. 3) Last but not the least Install all available windows updates.
