File association

Got a file with DVR-MS extension. Could not add to BSPlayer's filetypes because you can't use chars like - in file extension definition.

Re: File association

Rename the file. :) What is this DVR-MS format?

I feel that soon there will be requirement for Unicode extensions with Chinese letters. :lol:

I can do nothing about that - but a workaround would be to change ("rename" :D ) the file extension into "dvrms" or something else without the dash, and then associate "DVRMS Files" with BSplayer :wink:

adicoto 24th February 2006 08:33 PM

@J7N

THe request about chinese chars is old, over 1 year allready.

@mihhkel

Yes, I know how to play the file, no problem. It was a bug report for BSPlayer's team. The file extension is official and must be supported.

By the way, nero show time have no problem to asociate the extension :lol:

J7N 24th February 2006 08:47 PM

Then again you can always associate by editing Windows Registry.

Code:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.DVR-MS]
@="ZZ_DVR-MS"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZZ_DVR-MS]
@="Microsoft Recorded TV Show video"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZZ_DVR-MS\DefaultIcon]
;; change this
@="D:\\Apps\\Bsplayer\\Bsplayer.exe,0"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZZ_DVR-MS\shell]
@="Playbs"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZZ_DVR-MS\shell\Playbs]
@="&Play in BSPlayer"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ZZ_DVR-MS\shell\Playbs\command]
;; change this
@="D:\\Apps\\Bsplayer\\Bsplayer.exe \"%L\""

J7L, read the @mihhkel line from above post. The point is not in playing the file in BSPlayer or adding the file extension from outside BSPlayer, but to play the file using the native file association function. Wich, in this case is not working.
Anyway, thanks in the name of users who will use your specifications to play DVR-MS files. I understand your intention to help.

You are right J7N, but as adicoto said
