Try to re-register quartz.dll

allevato 13th August 2006 08:04 PM

but how can i re-register quartz.dll. i tried downloading it from the internet (www.dll-files.com) and unziping at windows/system32, but it has no effect.

Is this the correct way to re-register it??
thx

adicoto 13th August 2006 08:36 PM

There are some ways to do that.
Go to windows\system32 folder and run the command regsvr32.exe quartz.dll.
Open BSplayer, go to options->preferences->filter management at filter management tab scroll down to AVI splitter, click on it and press re-register filter.

allevato 13th August 2006 08:50 PM

i did it, and all went fine, but the reindex message still appearing and the movies doesn't play till the end. :( :(

allevato 14th August 2006 02:21 AM

i noticed that all the movies that the "Reindex..." message appears, are the ones wich uses the codec 'mpeglayer3 (mp3) (0x0055) ISO/MPEG' as audio codec.

I don't know if it's only a big coincidence, but i think no, cause many others movies that plays fine uses other audio codecs.

PS: sorry for my english, i don't know if its easy to understand it...

Interesting observation. You can use another audio MPEG decoder, such as Moonlight Odio Dekoda. Try to install it and see if it's get better.

J7N 14th August 2006 08:15 AM

 I was expecting that someone will suggest Odio Dekoda.

The problem must be elsewhere. Layer3x.ax is a good small decoder which has caused me no trouble (v1.9.311). An user which knows little about codecs will probably now go to Elecard/Moonlight website, be asked to pay $$ or install a big sofware package just... to decode MPEG Layer-3.

Allevato :: What decoder are you using now?

adicoto 14th August 2006 02:38 PM

L3codecx.acm :)
I used for a while L3codeca.acm and after having problems with 48.000 VBR files I gave up and installed Odio Dekoda. In fact, as you know, I use just mlcom.ax not the whole package.

J7N 14th August 2006 03:01 PM

I did write AX not ACM and I'm not saying that ACM works properly.

adicoto 14th August 2006 04:41 PM

Yes, you are right, it's L3codecx.ax. Never used it since Divx3.11, when l3codeca.acm get out (I used it mostly to encode files, as l3codecx.ax can't do that) and never get back to it.

ACM (l3codecx, l3codeca, l3codecp, radium) can coexist with Direct Show filters for Mp3 (l3codex.ax, ffdshow, Odio Dekoda, ac3filter, intervideo)...

I am not saying you should stop using Dekoda now. However, I am sure that suggesting this decoder would be no help for many other users IF you don't provide this library with instructions how to install it. (As I do with Elecard MPEG-2 decoder.) It is the same as if I told how great BSPlayer is without mentioning that I'm talking about v1.36 or providing clean repackaged installation of a more recent version.

So ?

allevato 15th August 2006 06:05 PM

hi again...
i tryed installing the Moonlight Odio Dekoda, but nothing changes, do i have to do any other thing after installing it?? sory but i don't understad much of codecs, and some of the posts i didn't understand...

Tizio 22nd August 2006 09:35 AM

Sorry for the late reply..

Do these movies play fine in other players?
Did they worked fine with previous BSplayer versions?

If the answer is NO to both questions, probably the movies are corrupted. Try to use DivFix (or similar programs) to fix the index of the movie (with the Rebuild index option)

adicoto 22nd August 2006 02:41 PM

Sorry, somehow I missed this replay.
Can you post here wich filters are used to decode the file after installing odio dekoda ? Open a file, rightclick->options->filters

allevato 26th August 2006 11:30 PM

yeah, i don't think it was the file that was corrupted cause, it was playing before, then one day it bacame unplayable.

adicoto 27th August 2006 11:30 AM

The file can get corrupted only if your hard drive have problems. That's the only way it could happend this (if you don't edit the file). So the problem lies (like 75 % of the problems) in the codec/filters used to decode the files. That's why I asked for the filters used
