[CONFIRMED] "extend picture"-feature (vobsubs to b

I would like to have the possibility to move down the "vobsub" subtitles in the black part of the screen.

(with SRT subtitles, in can move down subtitles below the video image, but not with "vobsub" subtitles)

BSPeter 30th October 2008 08:35 PM

Maybe try if BS.Player's "Extend picture"-feature offers a solution?

That's why I suggested to use the extend feature (assuming that you have a 4:3 screen and play a 16:9 video).

yes i have a 4:3 screen and i play a 16:9 video : but with the "extend" function, the video is still in 16/9....

BSPeter 1st November 2008 10:49 PM

Of course a 16:9 video also when using BS.Player's "extend picture"-feature should still show a 16:9 picture and not a distorted picture.
This ( click here ) is a picture explaining the extend picture feature.
However, you should now be able to move down the "vobsub" subtitles in the black part of the screen.
That's what you indicated you wanted isn't it?
So my question is: are you now able to do so?

yes i can move down some "vobsub subtitles" in the black part of the video, but not all of them.... why ? i don't know!!!

but it's not like this :

http://members.home.nl/van.raak/Extending.png

the yellow frame is not 16/9 -> 4/3 like the example.
for me ,the yellow frame is 16/9 -> 16/9, with black lines INTO the yellow, and green part is "compressed".

i found one thing : use the "extend video to 4/3" and then "video format to 4/3 : shift+3" !!!!

but why there's not a function doing that in ONE click!??

Are you serious? Is this (the picture at the right) what you want?

BSPeter 2nd November 2008 07:18 PM

Maybe the video you're playing isn't in a 16:9 ratio?
What is the "Video size" info as indicated under
(rightclick >) Options > Media info
P.S.:
And while we're at it...
...please let us know what is selected under
(rightclick >) Video > Aspect ratio
and also if .. Video > Keep aspect ratio is selected)

I've meanwhile further tested and I think you've found a bug there!
(If - after "extending video" - you select under Video > Aspect ratio what is already selected there, the picture will become as you would expect it to be in the first place.)
(Note I will be detaching this thread from the original one, as this no longer has anything to do with it (subtitle shadow). Also I will be moving it to bugs forum).

OK, and that's exactly what should indeed be the result without additional action being needed.
According to my tests if - after "extending video" - (picture bscap0001a.jpg) you (re)select under Video > Aspect ratio what is already selected there (so no real change), the picture will nevertheless change and become as you would expect it to be in the first place, i.e. like bscap0001b.jpg).
Like you mentioned this additional action should not be necessary.
And if I remember correctly, it wasn't in the past.
So like I said, I think you found a bug there which needs to be fixed.
(P.S.:
This Clone Wars movie isn't exactly 16:9 but that is irrelevant for this thread)
