bst/bst2k When the hell are you gona fix the overlay fail

I am staring to get pissed off. There have been months after i had posted the results of the ovrtest. I had made coments of the possible reason of the bug. But the bug still persists and in bug fixes i see unsignificant stuff like chapters and subtitles. Sorry but without HW overlay there is no HW stretching, and the software one makes bslayer drop frames. So it become usesless for me.

How much have you paid for your version of BSPlayer?

I never flame people but this time, what you are writing is pretty hefty!

Look, we all know that BSPlayer is a great piece of software with a couple of serious bugs left. Bst is still working very actively on his player - and besides, no-one of us knows what he is doing besides that in life.

I have been waiting too for months that a serious bug would get fixed and I wished too that it were fixed rather today than tomorrow, but
I have the decency to wait and hope for that bug to be fixed and not DEMAND for it!.

As far as I know, BSPlayer is freeware - so how dare you EXPECT "customer support"?

Sorry but people like you make me sick.

If you're not ready to be a bit nicer to people - first post in this forum and you're already aggressive - then begone!

Hope I gave some food for thought here.

And finally - you might think that HW overlay support is the most essential bug around, but other people have other priorities... IMHO, it's chapters and multi-CD support that are the most important issues left!

Cheers, Smarties :P

 I wouldn't tell it a better way!

If it was so easy to fix, BST would have done for a while!

This is my first post in the new forum, but not in the old one.
This bug is critical, becouse if i can't use bsplayer, so i can't go so far and care about chapters. The bug is easy to fix, it happens on video boards that can't shrink hardware overlay. You can see that bsplayer makes small window while staring movie and then it becomes the normal size. If the window is with normal size at begining then it won't fail. I donno why it is not fixed yet. I get pissed off. I really care about bsplayer. I have recomended it to some friends of mine and some of them have gived up becouse of bsplay fails. Sorry i an so rude but this is not my first post about this problem. I may be wrong, the problem may lay somewhere else but as long as i cannot fix it i must find a way to force the developer to do it. If he says that he wont fix it I will find some other player to use under windows.
Best Regards

New version, old bugs, no coments.

opensource

try to persuade bst to put bsplayer in opensource under gpl. it could make us all happy.

I don't want to FORCE anybody to fix this bug, but to PERSUADE if I can. i also have big problems with overlays, and that's funny because I always recommend BSPlayer in some spanish forums ( I'm even moderator in one forum about "Problems with Divx and players" )... but I can't use it myself. I even bundle BSPlayer in every Divx movie I release, with an autorun menu that launches BSPlayer using its great .ini file ( nice, easy and UNDERSTANDABLE, unlike MicroDVD's ). So I can let people that watch movies released by me to choose between 2 idioms and even spanish or original subtitles. But again I can't enjoy my own releases myself. I must say that chapters and 2 CDs support won't be helpful for me as long as I can't watch the film. I think that bugs that relies on display problems should be fixed first and then go for the other useful but secondary problems.

sssst, ok we all get the point,

lets just hope it's fixed in version 1.0,
and if its not, hej, lets just wait some more,
the software is free, so we can't demand something.
we can just hope for it.

finally it will all be good,
(we hope)

no pressure bst,
anyway, releasing it to be opensource would be cool,
don't know anything about programming a program like
bsplayer.

but I do know, some organization would be in place then,
an extra topic in this forum atleast where programmes could share thoughts, and show the stuff there working on.....

iive 19th August 2002 03:18 AM

Opening source is good thing, but GPL may not be the right choice for program that only runs in windows and uses only closed source libraries.
LGPL is a way better. Anyway the developers are free to choose the License, and they must know what are doing.
I agree that bst2k may be a very busy man that don't have enough time to develop bsplayer. It is pitty so good pease of software to suffer from so basic bugs so long time. Maybe, if bsplayer was open source i would try to fix this bug on my own. Or at least to find out what the problem is. I know how hard is to find bug when you have bugreport like "I opend my file and it give me a blue screen, what to do, help me"
GPL like license may not be the best choice if bst2k don't want another player s that use 90% of him code, but there are enough examples (by the big companies) how to do it.
