Someone captures a tv-show and encodes the video and audio
streams, this is the space-saver - i know. however, suppose that
you would like to share this show with a friend, ah. Internet is
awesome, but - sending a ~200mb file might corrupt the file
specially if one (or both) of you are connected via ADSL.
So, splitting the clip up into, say 15mb archives would save both
of you alot of time if something goes wrong, by verifying the
checksum of the files you can find out which volume is corrupt
and just re-send that one.
