New features/improvements to BSplayer Here are some features/improvements I whould like to see in BSplayer (Thanks in advance :D ): - Fully supported DVD Playback PRO FEATURES - Maybe when uninstalling should be answered if the user wants to delete "Product Registration Information" ("key.reg" file), so if upgrading to newer version after uninstalling, re-registering is not required. - Once the user register the product, the player asks to restart the application. Maybe this task should be performed by the player itself, maybe by calling another program (RestartBSP.exe, which closes BSP and then re-open it). Teletext: - I think the Teletext should work like the DScaler one works (page caching, direct links by clicking on the 3digits number pages, goto_page_number directly in the upper-left corner of the teletext, info on the number of pages/subpages cached). - A pause/resume button to prevent flashing animations (or multiple pages in one) to steal visualization from the current page selected. - Please add the ability to free resize the Teletext window (and thus the text in it) or at least an optional x2 zoom factor/full screen option to view an enlarged version of the teletext pages. - Maybe when changing channel, the Teletext page shoul be reset to 100 (subpage 1). - Ability to select text in the Teletext window (or to copy the entire page to clipboard). - When the current page is 0 and you press the Previous Teletext page, the page should be 999 instead of 100 (or the last scanned page)... I think this is a smart way to cycle between teletext pages! - Sometimes (especially if the selected page is visited for the second time) the selected page is not loaded and the page counter enters an endless loop... TV Tuner: - An option to select the Tuner line as AUDIO IN DEVICE. - The ability to show multiple channels at the same time (only one in realtime, and the others that keep the last picture showed, eg: 4x4 minipreviews like in DScaler's PREVIEW experimental feature), with the ability to pass to the desired channel simply by clicking on the portion of video occupied by it. - It would be great if the favourite TVtuner Device could be saved in order to automatically open it when entering Capture mode... Since I use only one tuner device for watching tv, and since this is the function I use mostly, it would be nice if the "Open device" dialog appears only if I want to change the default capture device, not every single time I want to watch tv... Instead if I only want to watch tv, no dialog should appear and Capture mode should start automatically... - An option to split video captured files if grater than FileSystem LIMIT (or custom limit). - A "Scheduler settings" window/tab to configure programmed captures. - In the Channel list window would be nice if exist buttons to move channels in list up and down. FREE FEATURES - Add the FAQ, BSPeter's Help2Help, adicoto's List of Codecs to the installer, this way many users will be able to solve known problems by themselves. - Improve the "Set default audio stream" for every movie also with OGM filetypes. - Improve/add the "Set default subtitle stream" for every movie. Also with OGM (or general container) filetypes. - An option to close the movie file/window when the STOP button is pressed. - Auto Capture frames every x.x seconds - Different Icons for Different Media Types - It would be great if the menu could be customized as in BSplayer v0.8x with "menudef.dat" file :D - Made the shutdown time editable (now it's fixed at 30 seconds). - Display system time Quote:
This way BSplayer will cycle the list not only when the last item is playied. - What happened to the project for a "One window only", for the skins?? It would be great if BSplayer could reproduce the movie directly into the skin! - Could it be possible to add an option to insert the name of the remote in the WinLIRC button's filed as like as girder does? - Sleep time |
Very nice topic Tizio! |
 |
ACCOMPLISHED IN v1.37.826 (12/12/2005) Another feature for the Free version: Controls Always on top option (post by r3seken). It would be nice if the Controls window could (optionally) stay ontop to make the player always controllable even if working with other applications. |
PRO FEATURES: - It would be nice if it could be possible to select the output folder for Tuner captures (or just to remember last saved path), and if an output file is not selected, then BSplayer will create one by itself (eg: BSPcap00.avi, BSPcap01.avi...), and maybe to let the user select the auto generated name format (as for the screen caps one "bscap%A3")... - Add an option to keep the audio in synch with the video while capturing (out of synch problem caused by frames dropped etc.) |
Nice post Tizio. |
Thank you Mat2000 :D I hope my topic will help you to improve your great product (even if mine are only suggestions :P), and give BSplayer users the opportunity to see even great features in our favourite player! Many thanks! Bye  |
Another feature request: XP Autoplay (other posts: here, here, here and this really oooold topic  ) |
Full support of the ratDVD format, please! |
|
XP autoplay (for BSplayer) will be fully automatic and available when HWmaker v2.6 Beta 1 is released. |
- Restore playlis status when BSplayer is restarted (shown/hidden) - Ability to cancel the scanning process when searching for TV Tuner channels  |
Ability to manually add a channel. |
Quote:
If you pressed the Add button in "TV tuner configuration" window, you were able to set the channel number from the right pane, and by pressing the Update button not only the name was updated, but also the channel number.. I don't know why (if befere it was enabled) this feature has been removed :? I'm not totally sure of this, but has I said, I'm pretty sure that these steps allowed a user to add a channel manually.. Please, add (re-add) this feature to BSplayer :) Thank you Adrian to have pointed this issue in this topic  |

What's the news on this??? |

I hope that in the next release many features will be added :D |

New Feature: Since there are a lot of people with problems playing all their files with the same video rendering mode, it would be nice to have the ability to set video rendering modes for every single file (the same as for aspect ratio settings/video mode) :?:  |
Hello, What about a 64 bit (x64) version of BsPlayer? |
Automatically Display Movie Time when a video file is opened (suggested by Bk9666) |
Add shortcut for frame/time insert in subtitle editor. Why ? Let's see. I have a program I use for subtile translations. Wen you have an foreign translation it's easy, you can directly import frames and type the translation. When you don't have that you must create the sub from scrach, so you need to type the number manually or, in my case I have a shortcut key to insert frame into the subtitle file. It jumps from begin frame for line to end frame for line and after that jumps to the next line. Nice, isn't ? But....I can't watch the movie in full screen. I use BSPlayer for that. And while I watch the movie, I can generate the frame numbers by pushing one key (if you give me that key :D ). Next step, I have the frames (or times) and can start to do the subtitle file. |

Thank you  |
ACCOMPLISHED IN v1.38.828 (14/02/2006) IMPROVE Multi user capability (by ska) To be "really" multy-user, a program should be able to seve settings in NON Privileged folders, so it is claimed that BSplayer saves xml settings in %USERPROFILE% instead in the BSplayer installation folder (not accessible for non privileged users) |
Please add support for .gvp (google video) format - if is it possible. I hate their own player... btw: I hate .gvp format itself, since it's made because of marketing, not really needed for technical reasons, I think.... |
IMPROVE Multy User capability (by Eddie1506) It would be nice to have an option to let the user choose if BSplayer have to save the options for all the users (User Profile folder) or only for the current user (BSplayer directory). As an alternative, let the user choose the path where the options should be saved. |

Thank you Tizio. Writing to sysdir (or the other xp dirs) is definitely not a good idea. |

"%AppData%\BSplayer" would be The Only Right Spot. |

This approach is Ok, for shareware and adware, whose main purpose is to hide. Let's say you decide to remove some apps or games. Then all files in sysdir will remain occupying space and filesys entries. Applications must keep their directories organized well. Not all ppl see only the start menu and setup.exe. This is one more example of the assumption that everybody uses WinXP and not Win98, where there were no limited accounts and therefore no problems writing in any dir. And if I am the only user of my XP comp and don't browse xxx, crack, scam sites [which install WhenU, clocksync etc] with MSIE, then there is no purpose to be Limited. |
Ok, so it seems all votes go to "let the user choose the path where the settings should be saved." BSplayer folder as default. |
Quote:
Oh well... Back to 1.37 |
No, nothing done.. but I think the reason is that to choose a custom folder for Settings file, would imply that BSplayer have to write in the registry the path to the Settings file.. and maybe they don't want to do so.. |

Simple as that. |
This way it should work very well and everybody will be satisfied :D |

Request: Add an option to enable/disable title scrolling on player window (by Digiface) |
ML REQUESTS Improve BS.MediaLibrary |

Another thing, I noticed that it is possible to change the fonts using shortcuts, is it possible to just chage the codepage (Cyrilic, Central European, etc) by using shortcuts, or sendmessage?? |
TV Tuner Audio Sync Problem: Possible Solution Add an option to let the users choose to use SistemMixer instead of BSplayer mixer, this way (for example when audio in for tuner device is Line-in the BSplayer mixer will not introduce delay but instead it will be bypassed and the audio directly outputted from the Line-in directly to the speakers) |
