Default primary display

It seems that you're trying to watch video on a secondary display and without overlay mode.

try this :
-> goto BS prefs and activate overlay (it's better)
-> you should then watch a black movie (if secondary display)
-> goto your display adapter properties and activate a mode with overlay video on TV (with TV as a primary display it always work)

depending on your video card, you can try other possibilities (Clone/Theater mode with ATI card, ...)
