I think the best place to ask that is on XviD forums. They will explain if and why is XviD better than FFDshow. As an noob opinion, FFDshow can decode XviD but never heard of a filter able to decode...FFdshow. DivX and XviD are two implementations of MPEG4 standard and FFdshow can handle both implementations. That's the ideea, hope I made myself understood.
