full screen capture:
press "prt scr" button on your keyboard, open up graphics program, like paint shop pro or photoshop, choose edit, paste

program window capture:
press ALT+ "prt scr" at the same time, paste into graphics program.

There are also some freeware products around which save the file instantly.

Arkimaagi's tip is for 'regular' captures (desktop, programs... captures)
if you want a screencap of the currently playing video, hit either P or shift+P (default keys for 'original size' and 'what you see' captures)
it will create a bmp or jpg file (in bsplay.exe's directory by default)

you may want to have a look at this post and/or change the settings in preferences-->general

I am trying to capture a full size image of a video. I understand that I wil have to choose no overlay for "what you see" option to work. However, I noticed using no overlay caused a loss in quality during playback. Is this normal?
