Default Crash after installing DivX 6

Dear forum,

I'm using BSPlayer version 1.36 Build 825 from 5th September 2005 on a Windows XP SP2 machine.

I have a avi file encoded in xvid. If I don't have divx 6 installed (but 5.21) the xvid files playes without any problems. If I install divx 6 and now play the xvid file divx takes over the control and plays the file. So I went to the option "divx codec" -> "service program for configuring the decoder". There I remove the checkbox from the option "decoder" -> "support decoding mpeg 4 video files". Playing the divx file after that the BSPlayer crashes:

BSplayer v1.36.825, Unhandled exception at EIP: 0040643A
If you click 'Close' application will be terminated.

If I let GSpot render the file the correct decoder (xvid decoder) is used. I can choose different xvid files, but they all crash BSPlayer. Playing divx files works without any problems.

Is this a known bug?

Regards,

rüttel

I am not sure, but at the time DivX 6 was launched i noticed the same thing, that's why I've downgraded to 5.21. Haven't tested yet last build, 6.011 or something.

I think I have a clue for the crash.

I have two xvid files. The first plays well, the second crashes BSPlayer. The only difference between the two is the number of audio channels.

Plays well: xvid with one audio file (mp3 or ac3)

Crashes BSPlayer: xvid with two audio files (ac3)

I hope this helps to solve the problem.

The crash happens with two mp3 audio files, too.
