Double-clicking media file won't start player

I've tried several solutions like deleting the xml file...clean uninstalling the thing..etc they don't work...double-clicking the bsplayer.exe and THEN playing the file from there, however, works (and so does clicking on a shortcut of BSplayer)...I'm perplexed... :(
