Default Anamorphic movies

I have noticed in some DivX/XviD movies, that when i start a movie, picture is very shrinked. But when i select AR to "Anamorphic", picture looks normal. Are those movies encoded to anamorphic format? How can i actually know, is that movie really anamorphic or is movie AR just f*cked up?

Default Re: Anamorphic movies

Those videos are improperly encoded to a wrong aspect ratio. In most cases a ratio is not stored within an AVI or Matroska (athough it could be) file. And a person doing improper encodes wouldn't care to fill out the aspect ratio field.

When you select different "aspect ratios", BSPlayer is doing hardware resampling of the picture sqeezing or stretching it.
