Perhaps uninstalled something (like e.g. another player) recently?
(Or installed Matrix mixer?)

Check settings under rightclick > Options >...

Check settings under rightclick > Options > Preferences > Audio
Try with options set at "system default".
Are you sure it isn't AC3 sound?
In that case you would need to install e.g. AC3 filter
