subtitles not recognized even though they r there.

i have windows 7 and the free version of bsplayer. when i play a movie a list of subtitles appears. i choose one to download but bsplayer will not show subtitle - although it is there. when i run that movie again bsplayer does not recognize the exsitance of the subtitle and opens again a list of subtitles possible to download.
your help in layman language in solving this problem.
