Maybe it's because those versions have an adware client that installs into your machine and it may take too much memory from you PC (have you got an old PC?)
I suggest yu to install BSplayer v1.37. You'll find it by searching the forum, or just take a look at
BSPeter's sticky post in general section (item
(a) under
MISCELLANEOUS section). That was the last release without adware and works pretty well
