subtitles available in VLC but not in BSPlayer 2.56 FREE

I have a problem playing downloaded videos that have either subtitles or closed captioning that BS.Player doesn't recognize. Most of the time these are English language dvds and on the dvd they list non English subtitles and English closed captioning as 2 different categories. I am wondering if that is why BS.player does not recognize them because they are CC, but then why does VLC. I am a little hard of hearing so always go for subtitles or captions whenever available, and love BS.Players ability to manipulate subtitles. It makes viewing so much better for me.

"Disable embedded subtitles" is not enabled by any chance?
(rightclick >) Options > Preferences > Subtitles [Subtitle properties]
Maybe a sample file or a link?
P.S.:
(1) If it concerns actual DVD-format downloads, please note only BS.Player Pro fully supports DVD playback with DVD menu, DVD subtitles, etc! I'm afraid in Free-version you can only play the VOB-files.
(2) To be honest to you: I don't know if closed captioning is supported by BS.Player Pro. On the other hand I know that this feature was once requested by a user named "reallife" and placed on the "wish list" (as well as "improved teletext for deaf persons") in October 2006.
:embarassed:

"Disable embedded subtitles" is NOT checked so I am thinking you are probably correct and that it is a dvd rip and I would need the pro version to see them. Thanks for helping though. At least I know it was not something I was doing or not doing.

To be sure you didn't miss that: I honestly don't know if closed captioning is supported by BS.Player Pro. Will ask Ico-man!
