Problem with .apk from internet

I use BS free and i have encounter the same problem twice
Once i was trying to instal swype , and once the download started BS tried to open the file! I saw that the *.apk was not a supported extension but the BS still tried to open the file and i was unable to download it.
Only way was to remove BS and download , then install back.
Now second time , the same thing while trying to download an apk from xda via barcode scanner.
I tried to clear defaults but the problem remained.
Only solution to freeze BS from titanium or uninstall

Any other had the same issue ?

I am on a galaxy note II

I am also on a galaxy note II, and I just tried to download an apk file.
BSplayer tried to play it. It is not in the list of allowed file formats, so I cannot really understand why it is acting like this.

I have the same problem on a Nexus 7...
Is there any solution apart from uninstalling/reinstalling BSPlayer?

Edit: The Swype download itself seems bugged and produces an HTML document. Sorry for the trouble, will report back if others apk files cause the same problem.
