Default Video settings keep resetting

I am using BSplayer 1.37. I have the latest k-lite codec pack. All video files play. My problem is whenever I am playing a video and I open firefox and/or go to websites, both wmpclassic & bsplayer darken the video and I have to use BSplayer to put the video colors/brightness back to default. Can anyone help me with this?

Default

a thought just occurred to me, i remember while i was updating from xp sp1 to sp2 the installation crashed at one point and i had to 'uninstall' and roll back to sp1, then i installed sp2 again. i've never had this problem before where video settings weren't saving and would revert to some kind of default. i am presuming it has something to do with the xp sp2 failed update. if someone has an alternative solution other than reinstalling windows, i'd really appreciate it, thanks!

Default PROBLEM SOLVED

I solved the problem. I didn't mention I am using the Nvidia 6400GT. I uninstalled and reinstalled the video card drivers, good to go.
