Uknown File Format

Hi...I'm new to all of this, any help appreciated...

I have just installed the most recent BSPlayer. I also have the most recent DivX player, and the most recent XviD codec I could find.

Any .avi file I go to play it says is an unknown format...it won't play any XviD or DivX type files even though I have all the files installed (I think) that are needed, like the codecs.
Any ideas???

Also, just for the record...
divxmovies.com recommended getting BSPlayer if you have a slower CPU and find DivX .avi files are playing upside down. Did anyone find that this works? I would know if I could actually open a file! :P

pls lemme know if I need to install anything else, or recommended packages/codecs
