Grey screen AVI's SCREWED

AFter trying BSplayer and finding it much nicer than Media player I changed all my AVI files to open in BS player. While my AVI files were defulted to open in Media player everytihng worked fine but as soon as I made my defult program BSplayer Every one of my AVI files has sound and a blank grey screen. I tried fixing the files but that didn't work and reinstalling things didn't work so I downloaded another AVI file and it works great. Why would redirecting my files to BSplayer destroy all my files? This isn't just a couple files, it's 30Gigs of garbage now.. It's not a problem with my computer, I tried playing one on a different computer and it still didn't work.
