I have the very same problem, and it's driving me crazy. Just about every time i play any kind of file, player freezes and starts giving me error sound repeatedly, but the movie sound keeps on going in the background also. It doesn't start at any specific time.

I'm using Win7 64bit, and just downloaded the latest version of the player too (didn't fix the problem).

Tried to change video renderer; didn't fix it.
Updated graphic card drivers (Ati radeon hd6950); didn't fix it.

Waiting for replies, i refuse to change player!

i think i got the same problem, some times i have to try more then 1 time to open task manager or i got that weird sound every time i'm moving my mouse, but if i managed to minimize bs and then open task manager, if it's not blinking, that i can close the process and when i open bs player again movie i was watching before that one opens up  i have to 2 computers and both of them have the same problem.

First one is: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560, 8 gb RAM, 3,30 gigahertz Intel Core i5-2500, Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601), motherboard Gigabyte Technology PA65-UD3-B3.

the second one is: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti, 4gb RAM, 2,40 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo, Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) Service Pack 1 (build 7601), motheboard Board: Gigabyte Technology G41MT-S2P.

any ideas? i really like bs player and i'm still loyal to him

I have identical problem with Bsplayer more than a year, crash occurs when fast-forwarding through boring parts of movie. Video freezes with critical stop error sound in background but the movie sound keeps on going.

This problem occurs on both my laptops, Intel/Ati and AMD/Nvidia based platforms!

I did a clean install of Win7 SP1 (32bit) with the latest drivers. No help, crash still occurs! I only use codec that Bsplayer codec manager install! There is no difference betwen when I use EVR or internal renderer overlay, still crashing.

Please fix this problem!

Sorry for my poor English.

Actually there are 1 big bug into BSplayer 2.6x, and 3 less dramatic

-The BIG One makes bsplayer start eating Resources Like crazy after some amount of time, so everything is Slow, you can notice because windows explorer takes a lot of time to react when you navigate, then if you close bsplayer windows comes back to normal, for users with single core & less powerfull cpu the side effects are much worse off course

-The first Not so bad bug is Bsplayer crash if you foward-rewind very quickly x264 videos

-The second one makes BSPlayer Crash on normal playback, but that one solves by upgrading ffdshow to latest version

-The third One makes bsplayer to stop playback of the playlist if "random" is activated, just like that, when certain amount of videos finish playback then the next one does not start until you press "next", then when that video finish BSplayer Crash

My recommendation is to use a previous BSplayer, because this one is very buggy
