DirectVobSub doesn't load with .avi files

When I load a .avi file, DirectVobsub doesn't load, but, with an .Mpeg, it loads.
When I rename the .avi into .mpeg, directVobSub loads.
With WMP, directVobSub loads with the .avi & the .mpeg.
I tried build .496

Alexis, in my wmp, i have just one .avi file that directvobsub doesn't work & load. but it loads with other .avi files. any ideas why?
