playing video but no audio

i loaded the movie .avi into bs player to run it but no audio is working any suggestions ? thx ! :oops:

This is not a bug, you do not have the correct codecs installed.

In my case, similar problem, I have checked with GSPOT to see I have all the codecs and the answer is: YES you do. In fact I have 3 compatible audio codecs installed for the file I want to play ?????

Probably you need an AC3 codec or filter. This is a common problem. Anyway, check your volume setting in bsplayer and the output device in audio options.

That errormessage clearly states that xvid.dll is responsible for error. This may mean two things: u use ffdShow but u've checked that ffdShow for decoding xvid video uses xvid dll - switch that to default libavcodec. The other thing: u don't have any directshow filter capable to decode xvid video and because of that xvid.dll codec is used - in this case, install the latest ffdShow and your problem should be solved.

Did you click on Render button at the bottom of the window? What does it say for Video and Audio path? Copy&Paste here!

Some of your advises are a little bit beyond my knowledge but I will try to follow them. In the meantime a couple questions and a capture of GSpot:

Which is the latest ffdshow? How about the latest Xvid codec? can you post the links here?
Do I have to uninstall the others: ffdShow & Xvid, before installing the new one?

What I do not quite understand about BSPlayer is how to choose among all the different codecs every time I have to play a video? Should it not be automatic? Not to mention all the different options about overlay, format YV12, dedynamic filters and so on... unfortunately WAY beyond my actual knowledge, but close to my curiosity.

Obviously, I have no idea how to:

u use ffdShow but u've checked that ffdShow for decoding xvid video uses xvid dll - switch that to default libavcodec.

In this particular file, I choose the file, the player gets ready and when I press play it hangs up.

A more general question, which should help everyone who reads this:

What are all the codecs (audio and video) that I should have installed in my PC if I want to play every possible video? (latest versions?)

A mi tampoco se me o?*a el audio hasta que reinstal?© el DirectX 9, auqneu a mi me sal?*a un mensaje de error que dec?*a que el archivo estaba corrputo (y era mentira).

For xvid.dll problem: Install xvid 0.9.2 from the post above
For AC3 problems, install AC3 filter from above post. Sometimes it fix problems created by an old AC3 decoder that comes with codecpacks.
Directx 9 is recomended.
For magno: please use english so anybody can understand.
FFdshow is a filter that can decode some different video streams. But codecs from their developpers works better. So, use the codecs, this is my advice.
