bottom of playback window doesn't refresh - becomes stripey

I'm using an Nvidia Geforce MX440SE for playing movies, with Bsplayer 0.86 or 1.0RC3

When I start playback the bottom of the window seems to be displaying previous screen content instead of the movie. Resizing the window doesn't help.

Any clues?
