BSPlayer can't associate any file types

Hello, I'm been using BSPlayer for a while now. I just installed bsplayer 1.00, and its incapabile of associating any filestypes to it. Whenever I check the boxes, and close the option dialog, the icons on my desktop will blink as if I changed a file type association, but nothing has changed. When I open up the option dialog again, its unchecked again.

I'm using windows xp, and any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated.
