It seems it's DivX decoder fault, it crashes every player, try to use XviD decoder or ffdshow.

It does not crash on my computer.
I'm using DivX 5.2.1 Pro to decode.

Here plays ok. Using DivX 5.21 also. But BSPlayer say in video info that is an XviD movie. Strange thing ! Because I do have XviD installed on my computer, 1.02 last build by Koepi and the file is indeed XviD, reported also by VirtualDub.

The video codec used is:

codec: DIVX/xvid
name: DivX 4 (OpenDivX)
it uses quarter pixel, and gmc

since GSpot can tell that, maybe BSplayer should also identify this codec as DivX 4 (OpenDivX) not XVid?

I don't know about Gspot, but VirtualDub never failed me. So I give him the credit and consider the file XviD.

if you look at VDub Avi information, then you will see the same information as in GSpot. Only the decompressor is XVid, but codec is OpenDivX. Trust me

Just to complete my report:
I used bsplayer 1.02 with XviD-1.0.2-29082004
Only bsplayer carshes, windows media player and some others does not crash.
After installing DivX Version 5.2.1 bsplayer is working fine.

VirtualDub will load the first compatible vfw decoder available to decode the file
Having it say XviD in the info panel doesn't mean necessarily that the file was encoded with XviD, yet it is being decoded with XviD
