If I have Network buffering turned on and play a Matroska (.mkv) file bsplayer will not play the container file while WMP, WMP Classic, and VLC all play the file with no issue. I seem to be able to replicate this on both XP Pro and Vista Business using 2.20.x - 2.22.952. What I know about the .mkv file is that it is 720p so I am assuming H.262 and AC3 audio. The filename (among seemingly all other .mkv's) is: entourage.s04e11.720p.hdtv.x264-ctu.mkv The following are the symptoms: On Vista Business: Using Vista Codec Pack 4.4.9, BSplayer immediately comes back with an ERROR! and no audio is heard or video window displays. On XP Pro: Using K-Lite Codec Pack 3.30 Standard, Only audio is heard and no video window at all. On both machines as soon as I uncheck "Enable Network Buffering" and re-launch it plays flawlessly. I use a small 12Mb buffer on my XP machine with 2% prebuffer to make it through wireless hiccups. I use an 800Mb buffer on my Vista laptop so it doesn't hit the HD during a full movie and therefore preserves battery life. Regards, Chris -- Chris Hoekstra |
