Basically you need an H.264 video decoder. ffdshow is a good choice.

May I ask what is the file extension? Because in video world you also need a kind of decoder for the container video is in. There have been occurences of raw H.264 with *.264 extension. I don't know what decoder can eat this format.

The file extension is avi.

How about k-lite codec pack? better or worse than ffdshow?

If Bsplayer cannot play x264 format, is there a programm that can convert x264 to xvid?

x264 it's not designed to be used in AVI format.
FFDshow can decode such things.
I am not sure if CoreAVC can decode it so I suggest to look around for the VFW version of x264

Get ffdshow. The only reason for anybody to purchase or pirate CoreAVC, is if their computer isn't fast enough for the specific kind of video.

Since when do there is a x264 decoder?

For mkv files, i have Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2008-01-24 and reamediasplitter...

All the files in x264 are working well !

@J7N

This is the encoding option in VfW and also you can see that the decoder used to render the file is x264 VfW

The Combined Community Codec Pack is built around ffdshow.

Indeed there is a decoder. :shock: I have some older VFW Matroskas and they played fine using CoreAVC.

Seems that CoreAVC it's prefered to decode also VfW in AVI, the above mentioned file.
