Which tasks did you performed before BSplayer gave you that error message? Have you tried the night build v1.3.6.824 (alternative link here)?

i got that same error recently with some avi file,when i tried to close BSPlayer after opened that file. it only happened with that one file. that avi file name was quite long,so i cut it a little and no more error. so problem in my case was too long file name.

Jut did a bit of investigating on this, seems that max char count for file names is 54, 55 char's will bring up the exception
